About Me

I am  the director of Hon Hai (Foxconn) Quantum Computing Research Center, Taiwan, starting from January 04, 2021. Before that, I was with School of Computer Science, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia (2012-2020).  I was an Associate Professor at the UTS Centre for Quantum Software and Information (QSI) from 2014. I was awarded an Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowship from 2014-2018. In 2010-2012, I was a postdoctoral research fellow with the Statistical Laboratory of the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Cambridge, UK. I was also affiliated with the Centre for Quantum Information and Foundations at the University of Cambridge. In 2008-2010, I was a research scientist with the ERATO-SORST Quantum Computation and Information Project, funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). During this period, I was also affiliated with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Tokyo, Japan.

Currently, I serve in the steering committee of

  • Conference on the Theory of Quantum Computation, Communication and Cryptography (TQC), 2021-2024;

  • Conference series on Quantum Information Processing (QIP), 2021-2024; 

  • Beyond IID in Information Theory (BIID), 2020 - .

I was the program chair of the TQC 2021 and BIID 2021.

Program leaders at the Hon Hai (Foxconn) Quantum Computing Research Center, Taipei, Taiwan


The Hon Hai Quantum Computing Research Center is searching for qualified program leaders in the field of quantum information and computation. This includes, but not limited to, topics such as quantum complexity theory, quantum algorithms, quantum communication, and quantum systems and applications. The topical cooperation with local universities is strongly encouraged. We are looking for young upstart scientists with concrete ideas to establish her/his own independent research group. This position will accompany postdoc fellowship grants and access to research assistants from local universities.

The candidate should have a PhD in Physics, Computer Science or related fields and an established internationally recognised scientific profile in area of quantum computation. Further development of the existing research activities into the area of quantum communication, quantum simulation and processing of quantum information is expected.

Postdoc positions at the Hon Hai (foxconn) Quantum Computing Research Center, Taipei, Taiwan 

Applications are invited for postdoctoral positions at the newly-established Hon Hai Quantum Computing Research Center, led by Dr Min-Hsiu Hsieh.  We are looking for candidates with an interest in one or more of these topics:

- Quantum information theory

- Quantum algorithms 

- Quantum complexity

- Quantum machine learning

- Quantum error correction

- Quantum cryptography/Post quantum cryptography


The appointment will be for 2 years with the possibility of one-year extension. The starting date is flexible, anytime after January 04, 2022. Gross annual salary will be in the range of 55-60K USD. Candidates are encouraged to interact with local groups in National Taiwan University, Academia Sinica, National Tsing Hua University, National  Chiao-Tung University, and National Cheng-Kung University.
